Hi, and thanks for visiting my website. I'm Charlie Finch, the author of A Beautiful Blue Death (June 2007) and The September Society (June 2008), Victorian mysteries available from St. Martin's Minotaur. They were both really fun books to write, and I hope they're fun to read. I was born in New York City 26 years ago and went to Yale, where I majored in English and History, and Oxford, where I took a Master's in Renaissance English Literature. My favorite things to do are travel (a few recommendations: Patmos, Greece, Cadiz, Spain, and Asilah, Morocco), read (see the Extras page), go to museums (especially the Frick and the Met in New York, where I live), and hang out with my friends and my little brother and sisters. I'm also not averse to the occasional beer.
I'd definitely love to hear your reactions about the book and start a correspondence. I've also been really lucky in matters of publishing, and I'm happy to give advice to other writers. |

“What a delight this book is! I sat in front of the fireplace and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Charles Lenox and the lovely Lady Jane. Charles Finch brings early Victorian England right into our homes, peppered with cucumber sandwiches and bodies. We visit the exclusive clubs and go to balls and high tea and into darkest London, where criminals rule and the newly created 'Bobbies' have no dominion, yet. It's a rare accomplishment to make a murder so charming and a detective so compelling. I will definitely be inviting Charles Lenox back into my home. Bravo Mr Finch and keep them coming! More Lenox, please.” -- Louise Penny, Edgar Award-Winning author of Still Life and A Fatal Grace |
